PML-N Candidate Munir Iqbal Channar Takes Commanding Lead in NA-168 Bahawalpur By-Election Preliminary Results
BAHAWALPUR: The election and polling activities have been completed in the National Assembly constituency NA-168 Bahawalpur and the process of vote-counting started at a rapid speed, preliminary and unofficial results have started coming in.
The by-election is a high-stakes election race that is largely being fought between Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Malik Munir Iqbal Channar and independent candidate Wali Dad Cheema.
Early Voting Trends & Turnout
Unofficial results that have been received from 111 out of 292 polling stations in the constituency are as follows:
PML-N Lead: PML-N’s Malik Munir Iqbal Channar is comfortably in the lead with 18,433 votes.
Wali Dad Cheema, an independent contender is in second place with 10,793 votes.
There were 292 polling stations available for 483,143 registered voters. Polling began without any incident at 8:00 AM and went on without interruption until 5:00 PM in the presence of appropriate security measures.

The post of NA-168 was left vacant after the unfortunate death of the previous Member of National Assembly Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar. His son Malik Munir Iqbal Channar was given the ticket by the PML-N, while Wali Dad Cheema is the son of the former federal minister Tariq Bashir Cheema. Official and final results will be released later tonight from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
