Saudi Defense Minister and Field Marshal Asim Munir Meet in Riyadh, Reaffirm Joint Defense Efforts Under Makkah Agreement
RIYADH : In Riyadh, the Saudi Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman met with the Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, for a high-level strategic meeting.
The talks were extensive on regional security developments, military cooperation between the two countries and collective counter-measures.
Both leaders discussed the current status of bilateral defense cooperation and discussed the possibilities of further strengthening military cooperation between Islamabad and Riyadh, according to the Saudi Ministry of Defense’s statement.
The meeting highlighted the Kingdom’s recent security challenges and focused on threats to the security of Makkah and key civilian and economic infrastructure, the latter being a major concern.
Joint Response Mechanisms: Both leaders strongly denounced the recent hostile actions and confirmed their unyielding resolve to persist with joint efforts and coordinated actions under the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement (MJDA). Overseeing the outcomes of Military Chiefs’
Prince Khalid and Field Marshal Asim Munir welcomed the positive results of the recent emergency meeting convened by the military chiefs of staff of the countries that belong to the defence pact of Makkah.
They emphasized the fundamental principles and mutual defense obligations of the pact will be put into concrete action, particularly in the areas of military deterrence and security coordination.
The senior-level meeting was attended by key security and military figures from the two countries, such as the Saudi National Security Adviser Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban and the Chief of the General Staff General Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili.
