Pakistani Security Forces Thwart Cross-Border Aggression, Eliminate Several Afghan Taliban Fighters in Gulistan Sector
QUETTA: The Pakistani security forces thwarted a raid into its territory, a border hostility by elements of the Afghan Taliban in Gulistan area of Balochistan province, escalating tensions across the western border.
The security sources and state media said hostile elements made multiple attempts to cross the international border and enter into Pakistani territory. Security forces responded promptly with high degree of lethality, repelling the infiltrators and incapacitating some of the Afghan Taliban. After the first fighting, there was some sporadic firing of heavy weapons around the area, and the security forces certainly dominated the frontier.
The troops deployed on the border are still thoroughly awake and prepared to deal with any further incursion. The border skirmish comes after various recent security measures and counter-retaliation activities by Islamabad to protect its territorial integrity from cross border threats.
