Radio Pakistan Attack Case: Police Formally Name Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi in Court Progress Report
PESHAWAR: Peshawar police have for the first time admitted that Peshawar Chief Minister Sohail Afridi is involved in the Radio Pakistan vandalism and arson case in the city, in a significant political and legal breakthrough.
Investigation Officers from the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Peshawar presented a fresh progress report of the probe on local Anti-Terrorism court in Peshawar. The court records list CM Sohail Afridi and other top political personalities like Taimur Saleem JhGhra, Irfan Saleem and Kamran Bangash as suspects.
Earlier this week, Forensic verification and NADRA said the individuals had been found at the site.
Radio Pakistan’s counsel told the court that law-enforcement authorities used high-tech identity verification techniques.
The police said the video footage and photographs taken at the scene had been thoroughly verified by NADRA and Lahore Forensic Science Laboratory.
The forensic reports were able to successfully match and authenticate the presence of Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and the other accused at the site of the attack.
Court Orders that Final Challan be submitted.
After the presentation of the progress report, the investigating officer asked for more time to complete administration of the case. The Anti-Terrorism Court accepted and ordered the investigation team to submit the full challan without delay.
