Five Terrorists Killed in Prompt Police Retaliation After Armed Attack on Checkpost in Quetta’s Aghbarg
QUETTA: Five alleged rebels were put down during a heavy gun battle with security forces and local police after an armed attack on a police check-post in Aghbarg area on the outskirts of Quetta.
Initial police reports state that the security checkpoint was attacked and was being targeted by unidentified armed assailants. On duty police responded with immediate and effective retaliatory fire resulting in the killing of five of the attackers on the spot. Afterwards, the bodies of the killed militants were taken to a local hospital.
The Search Operations and Provincial Context are ongoing and will foster the conversation.
After the assault, further reinforcements of police and the Frontier Corps (FC) were sent to the scene to maintain security and a wide search and clearance cycle commenced in the surrounding mountainous area to scour out any escaped accomplices.
This case comes on the heels of continuous anti-militancy drives in Balochistan in which security forces have stepped up their counter terrorism efforts in the framework of existing operations to flush out terrorist elements.
