Capital Situation: PIMS and Polyclinic Placed on Strict High Alert, Staff Leaves Cancelled and Emergency Protocols Extended Until September 30
ISLAMABAD: Considering the current security scenario and possible emergencies in the Federal Capital, the major government hospitals have completely prepared their facilities, with PIMS and Polyclinic hospitals standing on high alert.The high alert state at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) is being kept in place till 19th of September as per the official notices released by the hospital authorities.
The duty of heads of the medical and non-medical departments has been assigned to keep them physically in the hospital premises during the alert period and all leave for medical staff has been cancelled formally.
Instructions have been issued to enhance Departmental Readiness and Focal Person assignments to ensure medical personnel are available all the time in Emergency Wards, Trauma Centres, Intensive Care Units (ICUs), Surgical Units, Blood Banks and Operation Theatres.In addition, it is required that the hospital beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, emergency blood reserves and other essential pharmaceutical supplies are always available in the hospital in accordance with the administrative instructions.
Dr. Sharjeel has been given a new responsibility as a focal person for emergencies at the PIMS, while the transport department has been directed to keep all ambulances ready for operations at all times. The administration has requested deployment of additional duty rosters for specialized departments such as surgery, neurosurgery and orthopedics.
It is also reported that the Federal Polyclinic Hospital administration has directed all the heads of the departments, senior doctors, medical officers, trainee doctors, house officers, and paramedical staff to always be on station.
Polyclinic administration confirmed that Dr. Tanveer Malik will be the Emergency Point of Contact and detailed instructions have already been sent to all the assistant executive directors.
