GENEVA : Scientists and meteorologists warn 2027 is on course to be the world’s hottest year ever due to the effects of climate change and an intensifying El Nino phenomenon.
A robust El Nino event is likely to further push up global temperatures towards the end of 2026, and its climatic effects are forecast to continue well into 2027, according to weather experts from the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

Long-term risks of extreme heat, droughts and erratic rainfall
Long-range forecasting models foresee that the impending changes to climate in 2027 may result in more severe heatwaves, more extended droughts, inordinately different rainfall, and a sudden rise in other extreme weather events across the globe.
