Death Toll in Devastating Kohat Police Lines Blast Rises to 24, Over 130 Injured as Security Forces Conclude Operation and Eliminate 7 Terrorists
KOHAT: The tragedy of death following the horrific suicide attack near the mosque in the old police lines in Kohat has increased to 24 martyrs while over 130 people have sustained injuries of which more than 90 are in critical condition.
Comprehensive counter-terrorism clearance operation conducted by security forces inside police lines compound has been successfully completed. The two remaining khawarij and terrorists who had hidden inside the compound were neutralized by the troops, making the overall death toll of the khawarij and terrorists during the operation 7. The Army commandos, Elites and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) forces confiscated all critical buildings and handed over the compound to local police.

CTD officials said that during the intense clashes, several militants were sent to hell, and that Additional IG CTD Qamar Jawad was injured in the operation. Collection of the slain terrorists’ remains is currently underway.
The authorities confirmed the identity of 17 of the martyrs as police officers. Full official funeral service has been held for the martyr police officers. Eight of the critically injured were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) in Peshawar where patients are 6 police officers and 1 civilian, while 1 was discharged after getting treatment overnight after the condition was reported satisfactory.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police (IGP) said the Afghan terrorists were directly behind the gruesome attack which will continue until the very last militant is caught.
