Creation of New Administrative Units Across All Four Provinces is the Need of the Hour, Says Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan
ISLAMABAD: The establishment of new administrative units and provinces is the need of the hour for efficient administration, Federal Minister for Communications and Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) President Abdul Aleem Khan said on Wednesday.
Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousuf met Abdul Aleem Khan during an official meeting in Islamabad, during which he made the remarks. The high-level discussion was on the proposed formation of administrative units, the prevailing national and political situation and the governance challenges in the region.
Improved Organisation and Decentralised Service Delivery
Sardar Muhammad Yousuf thanked Abdul Aleem Khan for speaking out for the establishment of separate province of Hazara in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, praising his tireless efforts in this field.
Abdul Aleem Khan, citing the reason for the proposal, said that new administrative units need to be created in all four provinces. This is not about carving up the existing provinces; it’s about how to organise and execute things better and more efficiently, Khan said, and it is “about solutions that can be sustainable” for the public good and get to people at their doorsteps instead of at a specific government location.
Call for Meaningful Political Dialogue to Avoid Deadlocks
The IPP President criticized the status quo of the past decades which is not matching with the global community that is evolving at a fast pace. Sardar Muhammad Yousuf concurred, adding that the current provincial setup has failed to achieve the desired outcomes, and emphasised that it is important to have a healthy and constructive debate on new provinces without creating deadlocks.
The federal ministers expressed a welcome for the increasing understanding on both sides of the political aisle of administrative restructuring. At the end of the session Abdul Aleem Khan said that the positive national developments and constructive breakthroughs would come in the near future when national issues would be discussed continuously in a purposeful way.
