Financial Mechanism for Petrol Relief Scheme to Be Finalized Today as Energy Ministry Convenes High-Level Stakeholder Meeting
ISLAMABAD: The operational structure and funding of the government’s flagship Petrol Relief Scheme will be hammered out today as a high-level consultation session is held by the Ministry of Energy.
The ministry has sent official letters to all the relevant regulatory bodies, government officials and industry stakeholders inviting them to join the critical strategy session to enable seamless implementation, official sources said.

Importantly, the Government has included petroleum dealers as part of the negotiations. The Governor State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and Chairman Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) or their representative, and other relevant financial and administrative authorities will attend the high level meeting.
The focus will be on addressing the financial arrangements of the relief plan, the payment process for petroleum retailers will be transparent, and logistical issues will be ironed out. The official financial mechanism and its guidelines is accepted, then the final operating procedure of distributing subsidized fuel to the citizens of the respective district of the country will be immediately implemented.
