Feasibility Study Begins for Modern Oil City Project in Hub, Balochistan to Transform Pakistan Into a Major Petroleum and Trading Hub
HUB: The Ministry of Petroleum has launched the feasibility study for developing a state-of-the-art Oil City in Hub, Balochistan, which is a major step towards ensuring that Pakistan emerges as a key regional petroleum trading and logistics hub.
The consultancy firm, Technip, has just received the formal contract to carry out and complete the extensive feasibility study to be used by the multi-billion dollar project, sources in the Petroleum Division say.
Ofsted surveyed all 600 of the country’s offshore bonded storage facilities.Ofsted has inspected all 600 bonding ports around the country.
The new Oil City will be built with state-of-the-art single buoy mooring for large crude oil tankers, according to the plans. The project will also feature large bonded warehouses, allowing international energy and trading companies to place their petroleum products in the warehouse without paying customs and taxes on the spot.
The coastal terminal will be linked to the national grid through two separate new pipelines:
Crude Oil Pipeline: construct pipeline to directly carry crude oil to storage and refining plants in Kemari.
Refined Products Pipeline: Designed to connect petroleum products straight to Port Qasim and the existing White Oil Pipeline (WOP) system.
The new infrastructure will be designed to integrate seamlessly with the existing White Oil Pipeline and other national transport networks, making it possible to transport oil efficiently across the country.
