Economic Coordination Committee Approves Rs75 Billion Supplementary Grant for Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Package
ISLAMABAD: The Cabinet’s Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has approved the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Package in a high-level meeting headed by Federal Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb.
The ECC in the meeting in Islamabad approved a technical supplementary grant of Rs75 billion to finance and implement the full fuel subsidy package.
The subsidy structure and vehicle quotas.
Targeted financial relief will be distributed in aid of eligible (non-commercial) vehicle types:
Owners of two and three wheelers will get a weekly fuel subsidy of Rs500 which is equivalent to Rs100 per litre of petrol received under a 5-litre weekly allocation.
Cars up to 800cc: Small car owners will be getting relief of Rs1,000 for 10 days, and a Rs100 per litre subsidy for petrol consumption of up to 30 litres per month.

The committee had the condition that the fuel relief will be available exclusively for non-commercial users and that each verified owner or user of the vehicle can only claim the subsidy for one vehicle.
To make the process of allocation of funds transparent and to avoid misuse, decision was taken to establish a separate digital distribution system called the Fuel Pass System which will be developed, hosted and managed by the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT).
