New 8-Member Azad Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet Takes Oath in Muzaffarabad

Eight-Member Azad Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet Takes Oath

MUZAFFARABAD: The newly established 8-member cabinet of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government took the oath of office today.

The oath was sworn by the cabinet members in a graceful ceremony held at the President’s House by acting AJK President Chaudhry Tariq Farooq. On the occasion, Prime Minister of the AJK Iftikhar Gilani was also present. The swearing-in ceremony had dignitaries and Attendees comprising of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) AJK President Shah Ghulam Qadir, the former Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan, the members of the legislative Assembly, top government officials, Bureaucrats and audience of citizens.

The ministers who are inducted into office are Waqar Noor, Azhar Sadiq, Saqib Majeed, Dr. Mustafa Bashir, Raja Riyasat, Engineer Umair Naeem, Abdul Rehman Arain and Sardar Mir Akbar. While the proceedings were underway in the President’s House, the Acting President Chaudhry Tariq Farooq administered the oath of office to the newly selected ministers who pledged to perform their duties in accordance with the constitution and law without any deviation and serve people with dedication.

The new cabinet, which was formed by the Prime Minister Iftikhar Gilani in the initial eight-member cabinet, has now officially got underway its rollout of governance.

The ministers will be allocated to specific ministerial portfolios in a later stage, and additional ministers will be expected to join the cabinet in the future. Since the ceremony was attended by a large number of workers and supporters of the PML-N who came from the respective constituencies of the newly inducted ministers, PML-N workers and supporters were also in large numbers. Party lawmakers had Shah Ghulam Qadir, the PML-N AJK President, on their radar at all times.The government is poised to speed up its developmental, administrative and public welfare initiatives soon, as its institutional framework has been put in place after PM Iftikhar Gilani took office on 28 August.
