Mohmand Dam is a Vital National Project for Pakistan’s Water, Food, and Energy Security: WAPDA Chairman

MOHMAND: Mohmand Dam project site visit of Chairman Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), Lieutenant General Muhammad Saeed (Retd) to observe the progress of construction work. During the visit he was accompanied by WAPDA Member Water Asim Rauf Khan.

The WAPDA Chairman toured the construction works at the various critical sites such as main dam and powerhouse.

The need for a call for accelerated construction and quality standards.
Lieutenant General Muhammad Saeed (Retd) highlighted the importance of Mohmand Dam as a priority national project for water, food, and energy security in the country after a review of the progress of the site. He urged the project authorities to expedite the construction activities for timely completion of the project.

Moreover, the WAPDA Chairman urged project officials to uphold high technical standards and optimum construction quality, highlighting that swift completion of the dam is essential for sustainable national development and economic stability.

The project has several strategic and economic benefits to consider.There are a number of strategic and economic benefits to the project.
Mohmand Dam is a large multi-purpose dam and power generating project. When finished, the project will have a storage capacity of 1.29 million acre-feet, which will benefit the irrigation of extensive farmland and flood protection.

Apart from water storage, the project will produce 800 MW of clean, sustainable, affordable and environment friendly hydroelectric power which will add around 2.86 billion units of electricity to the country’s electrical grid per annum.
