Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar Holds High-Level Meetings with Counterparts in Bishkek
BISHKEK: The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Heads of Government conference in Bishkek, had separate high-level meetings with the Foreign Ministers of several countries.
During the meeting, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar reiterated with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi the two countries’ firm support for the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership, the Foreign Office spokesperson said. Key issues of mutual interest were shared, such as planning for the next General Assembly session of the United Nations (UN) in New York in 2026 and preparations for the selection of a new Secretary-General of the UN.
Also during the meeting, Foreign Minister Dar met with his Regional Counterparts and Foreign Office Minister Abbas Araghchi, during which the two officials discussed the key bilateral issues and events in the region in detail.
Dialogue and diplomacy are still the key to maintaining peace and stability in the region, said Dar. In the past, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met with his Belarusian counterpart, Maxim Ryzhenkov, and talked about bilateral cooperation, regional security dynamics and ways to actively engage each other.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Ishaq Dar also met individual Foreign Ministers of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to strengthen ties with partners in Central Asia.The talks focused on strengthening bilateral relations, deepening economic and trade connectivity, as well as on emerging regional security environments.
