US Military Claims Clearing Strait of Hormuz of Sea Mines
WASHINGTON: The United States military has announced it has cleared the Strait of Hormuz of sea mines, paving the way for safe passage for commercial shipping.
The Strait of Hormuz is now completely open for sea traffic, according to the head of United States Central Command (CENTCOM) Admiral Brad Cooper. He said that US troops have helped more than 1,500 vessels to safely pass through the strategic choke point and that traffic levels are returning to near pre-war levels.

CENTCOM also gave an update on the sweeping and clearance operations carried out in the vital waterway in a video of the operation.
Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, previously, in reply to developments in the region, claimed that “no foreign military force could make the Strait of Hormuz safe in his absence.” He stated that if the corridor is open, all the regional countries are allowed to sell their oil without any restrictions or if it is closed, no country is allowed to sell its oil via the corridor.The U.S. military has officially stated it has successfully swept the Strait of Hormuz for sea mines, making safe passage once again for shipping commerce.

Earlier, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf had said that the Strait of Hormuz is going to be secure only if there are no foreign troops present in the region. If any one country is allowed to send oil in the corridor, none of the other regional countries will be able to sell oil and vice versa, he said.
