Punjab Assembly Unanimously Adopts Resolution Against Unannounced Electricity Load-Shedding

LAHORE: The Provincial Assembly of Punjab has unanimously passed a resolution condemning the unannounced and extended electricity load-shedding in the province.

Treasury member Ahsan Raza Khan tabled the resolution out of turn and it was passed unanimously by the house.

Public Concern and Demands for a Transparent Schedule
The resolution points out that the power load shedding situation in Punjab has become dire. It highlights the fact that although load shedding is a regular occurrence for most citizens and businesses, a privileged group of the populace is spared of the effects, leaving them in distress and concern to the general public.

While addressing the house on the floor, Ahsan Raza Khan said that the small businesses and commercial activities are getting badly affected due to power outages without prior intimation. If load shedding is indeed unavoidable, “a proper and transparent programme should be issued in the public domain and the period of load shedding should be applied in an impartial manner to all citizens”, he claimed.

The adopted resolution has asked the provincial and federal governments to immediately end the unannounced load shedding, and allocate power in a fair manner for the common people.
