Opposition Parties Decide to Form Joint Parliamentary Strategy Committee

Opposition Parties Agree to Form Joint Parliamentary Strategy Committee

ISLAMABAD: According to media reports, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) decided to form a special joint committee to come up with a common opposition strategy within the Parliament of Pakistan.

The committee will be made of members of both PTI and JUI-F and both parties will forward their names to their central leadership, according to sources.

According to sources, the committee will draw up concrete recommendations in matters of parliamentary affairs, parliamentary business and on the floor of the house to confront the Government. The committee has also been given decision making powers on significant parliamentary moves such as possible boycotts of parliamentary sessions.

The joint committee will develop guidelines and strategies that will be strictly adhered to by members from both political parties. The assembly of the joint parliamentary committee was decided at a joint opposition parliamentary party meeting, where the leaders agreed to take an ‘organized action’ against the government from within the parliament.
