Viral Video of Khawaja Asif Praising India in Pakistan-India Comparison Proved Fake
ISLAMABAD: A video that was widely shared on social media platforms of the Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif making a reference to the comparison of the economic and political situations between Pakistan and India has been officially debunked as concocted. State authorities’ official fact-checks and findings have revealed that the video and the audio is totally fake and has been created through artificial intelligence (AI).
The video, which was shared online is about 1 minute long, paints a misleading impression of Khawaja Asif giving a press conference. In the background, the clip plays a portion of the Defense Minister’s speech, giving the audience the impression that the minister said, “Pakistan and India gained independence at the same time but there is now a clear difference in the development of the two countries.
The ministry of information and broadcasting officially denied the video footage, which stated that Khawaja Asif never gave such a statement and that the audio track was a fake. Citizens and social media users have been advised to confirm information from the trustworthy sources before sharing unconfirmed media.
