Complete Ban on Flying Drones in Open Air Extended Across Punjab
LAHORE: The provincial ban on flying drones in open areas has been extended for another 30 days by Punjab government on crucial security concerns.
The restriction is in line with Section 144(6) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), according to the Punjab Home Department. The new guidelines have left the ban on recreational drone flights outside of a hard zone unchanged. But some small drones will be allowed to operate indoors in wedding halls and marquees only with the sole responsibility of the organiser to ensure their safe use.

The restriction does not apply to intelligence agencies, law enforcement officials, or similar people. Additionally, any individual or organization desiring to launch a drone for purposes of agricultural, irrigation or research flights must formally written approval from the district-level “Safe Drone Usage Committee.
The Home Department stated that it will consider drone use to be exempt only after receiving written clearance from a committee after professional activities are specified. A Home Department official said the government of Punjab has clearly stated that public safety, maintenance of law and order and protecting private property is of paramount importance and the provincial administration and police units have been instructed to ensure strict adherence of the order.
