Matter of Founder’s Hospital Transfer: Contempt of Court Petition Filed in Supreme Court
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has submitted a contempt petition against the Supreme Court for not transferring the jailed party leader Imran Khan to hospital for proper treatment. In the said petition, PTI has asked for contempt proceedings against the respondents for violating the Supreme Court order dated August 18, 2026. petitioner is requesting the apex court to issue show-cause notices to the respondents and compel their personal appearance to the court,
threatening to hold them in contempt for failure to appear and giving punishment to them in accordance with the law. In addition, the petitioner asks that the founder of the PTI be immediately shifted to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad for a thorough medical examination and the appointment of a judicial officer or court’s own local committee to monitor adherence to the court’s order.
The petition was filed by lawyers Uzair Bhandari and Salman Akram Raja. In particular, the court had already postponed the trial of the connected case to September 16. Salman Akram Raja: “Our Focus is on Supreme Court, Decision Will Be According to Law” Supreme Court advocate Salman Akram Raja, who was addressing the media after filing the petition, said the Supreme Court is the only hope left and things will be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law. He said the previous ruling was very clear on the medical examination of the founder done at Shifa International Hospital.
He says that the situation was absolutely fake – there was no heavy traffic and a car that followed with police escorted Dr. Faisal from Adiala Jail to Shifa hospital and back.
He claimed that the delays were part of a conspiracy to attack the Supreme Court and the party’s founder, promising he would take the case to court as well as to the people of Pakistan.
